DESIGN

JUDGES CITATION:
"The strong elevational
treatment providing a variety of massing, roof outline
and profile is impressive. The garage is cleverly shaped
to provide storage and an interesting elevation to
Crowborough Lane. And the front wall and column detail
could be usefully extended to the southern boundary to
improve security.
Very good use
is made of the sloping site to provide extensive
accessible terracing.
Within a
compact layout carefully planned accommodation has been
provided that will allow flexibility in the use of space
for changing needs.
The potential
for replication on other sites is improved by the
cruciform plan which would allow "handing" of
rooms to suit site conditions.
Limited glazing
on the north elevation to reduce heat loss has been
handled sensitively to avoid a stark, uninteresting
elevation."

KINGSTON CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Two
houses designed on a old farmyard site with the rear
house accessed through a roofed gateway.
The
houses were designed with galleried dining halls and
separate family rooms linked to the kitchen breakfast
room and separate to the main living room.

 |
MELDRETH CAMBRIDGESHIRE
An
individual house designed on a long narrow wooded plot.
The accommodation was arranged around a galleried dining
hall with bedrooms under the eaves slopes to minimize the
height against adjoining properties. A car port extended
under the trees.

SEDLEY TAYLOR ROAD CAMBRIDGE
Another
house in Sedley Taylor Road, designed on a 1/3 acre site.
The site was long and narrow at the front which allowed
us to use the garages as an entrance feature leading to
the property which was set back a distance from the
roadway. The garages were accessed from the inner area.

have prepared many detailed designs for kitchens. These
are Framford Oak units and this picture is of the kitchen
in the Kingston house on completion. One door leads to
the hallway while the other to the double height dining
