Works of major repairs to the roof structure and re-roofing with a large sympathetically designed extension were carried out to a Listed Building in Melbourn.
Particular attention was paid to the construction details and scale, and close liaison was maintained with the Conservation Officer. The size of the extension was masked by using different forms for the building.
Several Listed cottages have been extended and altered, some with green oak interior structure and all with careful attention to the traditional construction details and materials.

The Old Rectory at Kelshall altered by Sir John Somme was further extended with a design for a new garden room and car port.
