HARDWICK
CAMBRIDGESHIRE
A group of nine houses.
This scheme entailed the
design of seven new houses and two barn conversions in
the conservation area of the village. The scheme was
designed in close consultation with the Planning and
Conservation Officers and received detailed planning
approval.
The standard Local
Authority estate access road, with the Highway Engineer's
inflexible regulations, has been terminated with entrance
piers and road humps, at the entrance to the houses and
these define the start of the more informal village
"shared surface" road . The buildings were
designed for their group appearance in a traditional
village pattern and a central feature was the relocation
of a farm pond.
