A new village hall at Castle Camps,
funded by Lottery money has
recently been competed.
The design was prepared on the ArchiCAD
computer programme, which allowed a virtual reality film
to be produced. This has enabled the clients to carry out
an interactive exploration of the building with cameras
placed in each room.
The lighting and stage lighting schemes
were designed into the virtual reality building model and
their effects demonstrated. The scheme reflected the
multi purpose use of the building. Spot lights and track
lights on dimmers were used for atmosphere for discos and
dances while lighting beams with fluorescent lamps
provided general lighting for meetings etc. The lights
are controlable from behind stage or front of house.
Although the roof structure was
complex, the computer model allowed the scheme to be
viewed from any angle to refine the design and
construction detailing.
We put forward a complete design team
to the client committee.
We also provided a comprehensive
brochure of the project with the computer visual
printouts, and Lottery funding was obtained at the first
submission.
